Analog Man wrote an excellent article for Reverb.com about Marshall’s distortion pedal “The Guv’nor”. Check out the article HERE. In the article he mentions that there are kits available. That would be us, General Guitar Gadgets! We have an excellent, true to the original kit for this great sounding distortion pedal. This is as close as it gets to having the original, with the added advantages of a smaller pedal board footprint and a much sturdier construction that will be trouble-free for years. Check it out!
While you’re on reverb.com, keep an eye on the General Guitar Gadgets store there for good used hand-built pedals!
What is the usual application for this pedal? It is for the clean channel to give you a Marshall sound or to boost the pre amp? Thanks
hi Jack,
The “Amp in a box” comment really just applies to the “cranked-Marshall-amp-like” distortion sounds you can get out of it and the fact that it has similar controls as an amp, with the 3-knob treble-mid-bass tone control. It is a really excellent distortion stompbox. You can get good overdrive sounds and very nice thicker distortion sounds as well. With the mid tone control you can also get a pretty good scooped-mids heavy metal sound. It’s a versatile distortion machine. -JD
